Military Academy Nominations
Thank you for your interest in the United States Service Academies. As your Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, each year I have the privilege of nominating up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to New York’s 16th Congressional District.
The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.Members of Congress are authorized by law to nominate candidates for appointment to four U.S. service academies. These schools are the U.S. Military Academy (United States Military Academy West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy (U.S. Naval Academy), the U.S. Air Force Academy (Air Force Academy Homepage and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (United States Merchant Marine Academy (usmma.edu)). A fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. These institutions prepare college-age Americans to be officers of the U.S. uniformed services. Upon graduation, service academy graduates are commissioned as officers in the active or reserve components of the military or merchant marine for a minimum of five years. To request a service academy nomination from our office, please complete the form below and submit by November 15th, 2021. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Service Academy Nominations Coordinator Brandon Lloyd at brandon.lloyd@mail.house.gov.
