NEWS: Rep. Bowman Elected as the Vice Chair for Labor for the Congressional Progressive Caucus

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jamaal Bowman Ed.D (NY-16) was elected as the Vice Chair for Labor for the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC).

“I’m honored to be elected as the CPC Vice Chair for Labor to continue the fight to build and sustain worker power,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman Ed.D (NY-16). “As a lifelong educator and former member of the American Federation of School Administrators Local 1, I know firsthand the struggles unions face and how important it is to support the labor movement. Throughout my first term in office I’ve fought for workers at every step to ensure their needs are centered and their voices are uplifted. At the beginning of my term I introduced the Care for All Agenda, which set out a vision for strengthening the care economy with a focus on improving working conditions, wages, and benefits for care workers nationwide. My Green New Deal for Public Schools also would create hundreds of thousands of union jobs annually by upgrading every public K-12 facility in the country. Additionally, I’m proud to have introduced the College Athletes Right to Organize Act and to serve as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Education and Labor. As we enter the 118th Congress, I’m excited to continue the fight for worker power. I will always stand in solidarity with workers across the country and am grateful for this opportunity to be the Vice Chair for Labor for the CPC.”
